Forgive me if this is at all spoilerish for anyone who has not seen this week's ep. 19 "empty places", but I really think it's such a tiny detail that it's not. But hey, being a newbie and never having gotten to use those cut tags before, what the hey! Over-compensate much?
When Clem used the word "mishegaas" I (not being Jewish) thought "huh?"
http://www.bartleby.com/61/66/M0236650.html says:
SYLLABICATION: me·shu·gaas
PRONUNCIATION: msh-gäs
VARIANT FORMS: or mish·e·gaas or mish·e·goss
NOUN: Slang Crazy or senseless activity or behavior; craziness.
ETYMOLOGY: Yiddish meshegas, from Hebrew mugg‘.
Fine, makes sense in context.
But Clem, Jewish? I never sensed that before. He always seemed pretty Gentile before. Or, like, neither. Maybe he's been playing cards with a new crowd of demons or non-demons?
And well, this part is a tiny bit spoilerish anyhow -- he has cut down on the kitten poker -- cholesterol - no, morals! -- so maybe he's taken up a whole other pastime. The car definitely suited his personality.
Curious, very curious.
