Yesterday I accidentally discovered that as of the last update to Firefox 2.0, one can now rearrange browser tabs! Just pick up the tab you want to move and move it! A little green arrow appears above the place you are about to insert it in the order of existing tabs.

Yes, how geeky.

It's just that I've always wanted to be able to do this. They've finally implemented it! How many times have I closed a tab because I didn't like where it was in the order of tabs, and then closed a few more, and then painfully made a bunch of new ones and filled them in according to the desired order? TOO MANY!

No more of that now. Sweeeeeet.

P.S. -- does this work under Windows XP and Linux as well? (I've only tried it under Mac OS X.)

I've been able to do that for ages - I unstalled the add-on a year or so ago at least. You should check some of them out - you can do lots of fun things with Firefox add-ons. :)

Awesome! Thanks for sharing this (I didn't know about it; I just upgraded to Firefox 2 recently and haven't explored all the possibilities yet).

You just made my day!

Hilarious! I assume it is well-formed because the end-tag is on the back side?? :-)

I've actually had three or four of those add-ons installed for quite some time -- the delicious one, Firebug, and the Web Developer one. So does that mean this behavior is a result of me having those installed, and I just never noticed the behavior before, or is it now standard out of the box even without the add-ons? I am confused.

So cool. I can't stop doing it, just to do it. I'm so lame.

Isn't it very, very nifty? I feel they should have told you about this new feature, you know, actually promoted it, during the upgrade process, instead of having people stumble upon it.

The moving tabs thing is now standard on this version of Firefox - there used to be a specific add-on that let you do that though that I installed some time ago. I guess they thought it was so nifty they decided to incorporate it in the basic program. :)
