All that blue on the interactive map really freaks me out, though. There's still a lot of hate out there.

It was definitely nice news to wake up to the other day. I was already very impressed with our new governor, but this related article from today's Times kind of blew me away. He's incredibly forward-thinking for a politician.

I can't figure out why the hets care? I tried to get my daddy to explain how two guys or two gals getting married would make his marriage to my stepmother mean less, and he couldn't. I've never been able to get any married hets to explain it, properly. Seriously, I can see why gays care to have the same rights and opportunities, but I can't see how giving them that takes away anything from people who are already legally married. It doesn't make any sense, at all.

And actually the hetero. divorce rate decreased in Massachusetts during the four years following gay marriage rights there -- so really, gay marriage increases the stability of straight ones. SO THERE. ;-)

I'm particularly impressed by his being inclusive of transfolk, too.

I saw a photo of Takei and his partner on Takei's website and was struck by how happy they still look after all these years. Inspirational, that.
