Backups of LJ data
Jul. 22nd, 2003 04:55 pmDoes anyone know what the LJ policy is regarding data backups? That is, if one or more of their servers should have a hard drive problem, one assumes they back up all the data, right? Do free accounts have no guarantees regarding data recovery compared to non-free accounts?
I can't find anything about this in the FAQs, only a vague thing about being able to recover deleted accounts for up to 30 days after deletion (which I think implies general data backup, but I'm not sure).
I've recently begun making a few private entries for work-related stuff, just because I HATE hate hate Microsoft Outlook (which is what the university recommends) and refuse to use it for this sort of thing.
Of course I also have most stuff written down in a text file on our unix server or my desktop mac, but it would be nice to know that LJ is another safe and dependable place to write stuff down.
