Tom Lenk's acting in ep. 11 "Damage"
May. 6th, 2004 08:19 amToday at http://buffy.nu/ I learned that:
a.) A lot of the Angel crew (and particularly the director of 'Damage') didn't really know the Andrew character, or much about Slayers, Slayer mythology, etc.
b.) So everyone and DB especially teased the director relentlessly
c.) Joss told the director and crew to "let Tom do his thing" but his improvisations still freaked them out, they were so nervous at first. Eventually they came around, just let the camera roll. They got some good stuff from his improvisations.
d.) Tom is a very prop-oriented actor; he wanted to focus on how geeky it was that Andrew now basically thought he was British.
e.) So Tom himself decorated the lunch bag with the British flag. And he also "drew a photo of David Beckham" to have on hand, "just in case" (don't ask me how one can 'draw' a photo -- maybe the writer meant "drew a picture" or "had a photo on hand").
