Harry Lennix == Chiwetel Ejiofor,

Topher Brink == a pale copy of Tom Lenk

Reed Diamond == a pale copy of Alan Tudyk

Olivia Williams == a potentially better version of Stephanie Romanov

I'm simultaneously afraid of an intrigued by the potential of all these interesting side characters. On the one hand, side characters are something Joss does better than anyone. He fleshes them out more than most showrunners bother to do. On the other hand, they're in danger of falling into the archetypes he's already set up in the past, especially when the casting produces such look-a-likes.

That said, I ADORED Amy Acker. Her character has more potential than all the rest, to become a deep, multi-faceted person.

The plot was stupid, and felt like it had Network Notes all over it. However, I'm willing to be patient and see where the Arc stuff goes the rest of the season.

Yep, I pretty much agree. Some of the previews cast some doubts on Eliza's acting skills, and while I bristled on her behalf at the time, I did think there were some cringe-worthy moments as she tried to play hostage negotiator. (and Eliza is one of the women I'd switch teams for!) Still, maybe she'll grow in the part -- DB sure did.

I liked Amy's hair :)

I'll give it a chance, but I'm not all that sanguine.

I though the titles listed Amy as a guest star, right? If the network follows the Firefly pattern and cancels the show after only 6 episodes her guest starring in the first few will seem to us like she's in a large chunk of the series. :)

I'm with you pretty much straight across the board here. Nothing with the exception of Amy Acker grabbed me at all. I'm considering waiting to hear if it gets better and then just watching it on DVD later.
