Yikes, yes ... but I hink no one died, even though several nearby houses were burned to the ground.

I don't really know because I don't like the way the local media always hyerventilates about this kind of thing. They try to make it seem more grand and horrible than it really is, comparing it to the California wildfires or even 9/11, when in fact the only event to which it bears even a small resemblance is the Station night club fire. So I quickly walked away from the TV (it was at someone else's house, so not my place to actually turn it off).

I know. I came home at around 5:30 yesterday and couldn't believe how much coverage the local news was giving it. My theory was that they were jealous of all of the good footage (and ratings) that they've been getting in California. I also think it's interesting that the only time that Boston news covers Rhode Island is when something is on fire.

It's crass and hypocritical, because they pretend to care so much, but are really mainly after ratings.

I know what you mean. I was beyond pissed during the big blackout when everyone cried over New York, completely forgetting that other major cities were affected, while they compared it to 9/11. Shameless.
