Leonard Roberts, who played the horrid Forest in S4 of Buffy, was on Tru Calling tonight. His character was very different. Glad the actor and character aren't one and the same. Still a pretty badly written show, but the directing isn't too bad, and the sets and costumes are OK, and you all know the real reason I like to watch it anyway. ;-)

1.) [livejournal.com profile] keever and [livejournal.com profile] thebratqueen said it all, pretty much, the Couch of Gay, the slashy sunlight scene, even I -- someone who isn't big with the Angel/Spike lovin' -- even I adored that scene. It really is a treat when they throw these scenes in every week.

2.) I was beginning to wonder why Harmony wasn't getting much screen time. Thank god she's back. Now if they could only up Lorne's time a little. Please.

3.) Leaving aside the stupid sexist Garden of Eden crap, it is still odd that Eve's name is so suggestive of the word Ev(e)-il ...

4.) Will we get to find out what all those symbols on the walls and on Lindsey's body mean? Or rather, when will be find out?

5.) I LOVE being Spoiler-free. I would've been so bored if I had already been spoiled for the Lindsey thing. Phew.

6.) I disagree with [livejournal.com profile] keever about Drusilla. She said: Really, was Drusilla necessary at all here ... Maybe not, plotwise and Spike/Angel-wise, but given the more male-centric universe here compared to Buffy/Sunnydale, I am always glad to have a few more women on the show. So I say, yay Dru! Although the misleading nature of the WB's trailers is indeed beginning to annoy.

7.) I had a brief, fanatical belief that the person in Eve's bed was going to be Lilah, not Lindsey, and so I was even more surprised by Lindsey. Not that ME would really contemplate having a completely evil lesbian duo, no, they don't want to touch any Bad Stereotypes with a ten foot pole and I don't blame them (Basic Instinct-ish stereoptypes or whatever). So I just don't know why I thought it would be Lilah. Because I wouldn't want that either. Bad. Ew. It's just that part of me wanted to see it anyway. Bad, pervy, evil thoughts.

I think that the reason that you're watching Tru Calling is likely the same as a lot of viewers of that show. It seems like everything I read about it mentions her hotness much more than the actual substance of the show.

Re: Harmony -- based on the only very vaguely spoilerish information that I happened to see while trying to figure out how to set up taping for future weeks of programming, I think you'll soon have reason to be pleased, at least for one episode.

The more I've thought about the Drusilla stuff, the more it annoys me, actually. True, it's good to have a woman around, but do we really need her around to be fucked and to make Spike look a little more sympathetic? She didn't really do anything else here that made much difference, in my mind. And in general, if you think about it, she's one of the least developed characters in the 'verse. Often, it's Dru is crazy, and her craziness prompts a joke, and then she's not doing much else. I realize this means that her development is necessarily limited, but when we get to the point where she's just being used to remind us of a conflict between two other (male) characters (who seem to see her, to some extent, as some sort of prize) and to show up in a trailer (and not much more footage than that) to garner sweeps ratings...well, why? You know I have all the love in the world for ME, but this frustrated me.

There was a moment in that last Eve scene where I thought she might just be getting into bed with a woman. But thinking about it more, I should have immediately thought that there was just no way that they'd invite any more criticism after the flak that they caught after killing off Tara.

I'm still psyched about Lindsey, and that I had no idea that it was coming. I can't wait to see what they do.

I can see your points about Dru now. But what did you think of the Season Two episodes in which Drusilla turned Darla and then they went on a shopping/killing spree ending in lawyer feast? That wasn't *all* about the male characters, was it?

Lindsey has always been quite intriguing -- it will be interesting to watch his role unfold.
