Angel 5.18 "Origin"
Apr. 23rd, 2004 12:05 amEven though I knew from the WB's stupid trailer that Connor would appear, it still took my breath away just because the acting was so stellar, so intense. Wow.
The significant looks on Connor's face at the end made me think he DID remember everything, but was pretending not to, in order to spare Angel some pain, or maybe to make him have more pain. I mean weren't those very knowing looks? If so, Vincent is a great actor, and if not, well still a great actor.
What an intense episode.
I refuse to watch next week's trailer. I will not read the Angel Chronicles. I will be unspoiled. I must remain unspoiled.
Gunn was brave and heart-breaking, and that stupid light bulb just killed me. He carries that stupid thing upstairs every single day and almost steps on his own hearts every day, and braves the sword every day. Dante's rings of hell never quite anticipated this horrible repetition, or they did but I didn't pay attention until now.
Wesley is the single most riveting character on the whole show. His constant betrayal dramas are truly astounding, and Alexis can do so much with a facial expression.
I really, really, REALLY want Lorne to give Angel some very harsh words in the next episode. We haven't seen his reaction, and the foreshadowing in the bar in the last episode really makes it certain that there will be an explosion. Come on Lorne, give it to him, Angel deserves your worst.
Adam Baldwin is creepy no matter what he wears, suits or not. I keep picturing him gnawing on the Apple-on-a-knife.
Spike is amusing as Ilyria's "pet". How funny. And of course the multiple slashy lines in this episode involving Anne Rice, Angel having sex with "other vampires" or Hamilton on the couch, these are all too much! I am still chuckling to think of it.
The people you really ache for are Connor's "parents". They just have no bloody idea.
Salivating for next week's episode is far too easy. Where do we go from here; when does the end appear?
