Tom Lenk's sketch comedy group
Jan. 8th, 2005 01:12 amIn light of this review of Tom's Comic Play (another Whedonesque link), I thought I'd post this, too ...
Image copied to my own server to avoid hot-linking, but here's a link to the overall HTML page (with a description of their sketch comedy) on which the original picture is located:

Sketch comedy group "Strangely Attractive" members Ariane Price, Patty Wortham, and Tom Lenk:

Oh, and here is Tom's official site, which (according to Whedonesque folks) lists the current week's "special friend(s)". Last week it was Tom's mom, Patty Wortham, and Nathan Fillion. This week it's Tom's dad, Patty Wortham, and Emma Caufield.

When I read between the lines when the actors and Joss talk about Season 6 and especially Season 7, Tom was the comic relief and tension reliever on the set. There was a lot of tension on the set during season 7, especially after SMG let everyone find out the show was ending through a magazine, instead of telling them herself.
Nick was flummoxed when someone in the autograph line at Cleveland told him that there was a lot of Xander/Andrew fic. He said, "Xander and that sweet little gay boy? Huh. Okay. That's funny. Huh. Wow. Huh." Later (because I sat in the chairs staring and listening) I heard someone asking him about it again, and he said, "Tom's a trip really. He's really going to be excited when I tell him what I learned today," and then Nick just made the funniest face in the world.
I wonder if he ever told Tom? Adam Bush and Danny Strong talked about reading the slashfic at Nashville. They bragged about printing them out and showing them to their friends and emailing them to each other.
The only person that doesn't seem very thrilled about it is ASH. I've heard him tell fans several times that he doesn't want to hear about stories being written about Giles having sex with his children. That's how Tony must have seen the relationship between Giles and the Scoobies. I've never heard him tell people to stop, but he's made it clear that he doesn't want to hear about it.
The way he and Nick acted around each other at Cleveland and Oakland, there is definitely a father/son vibe going on there. Tony looks at Nick like he completely adores him. It's really very sweet.
And Tom. Oh. I can't say enough about how sweet he is. He was so sweet at Oakland. My friend was telling Kelly how crazy crazy I was for Nick, and I was talking to Tom at the time. He said, "Oh my god, your friend is *totally* selling you out. You need to tell her to just shut her mouth." It was funny.

Tom won't answer questions about Andrew's sexuality or his own. Fans ask very personal questions during the Q&As.
I have heard that he is often seen with the same extremely handsome young man who seems to be very into Tom. A friend of mine went to Emma Caufield Bandwagon premiere, and she told me that Tom was there with an extremely gorgeous young man. I hope he's good to Tom, because he's so very nice;) I'm sure he is, regardless the nature of their relationship. Since Tom hasn't ever said anything, I'm just going to say I hope he's happy.
