Committing Unauthorized Reproduction

kerri9494 brought some rather terrible legislation to my attention. Ack! Indiana bill seeks to limit who can have in vitro fertilization, sperm donation, and egg donation. It's not a joke, it's not Margaret Atwood, it's real. And it's really, really scary. So basically, single women, lesbian couples, unmarried/common-law couples, etc. aren't good enough to have babies, then? WTF?!?!? And who are "they" to decide all this, and who ARE they anyway? We're living more and more in a police state.

This bill better not pass.

I am just appalled it got past committee -- Indiana is pretty conservative, I guess. ACK.

Indiana is pretty insanely conservative. Like they're a right to work state so they don't acknowledge labor day, they don't take kindly to unions....

It's kinda scary there and I only spent about 6 months there.

I just saw this on someone else's journal and I'm STILL filled with rage. God. That's the most personal subject in the world (and one that's close to my little heart.) I can't even be coherent about it, much less sound well-versed. Personal! Not political! Well, Oklahoma just paled a few shades of red.

You have to wonder about the particular legislators involved -- you can bet it's never affected most of *them* personally, or they wouldn't be so righteous, judgy, and condescending and wanting to play god over other people's (esp. women's) bodies and choices.
