Veronica Mars
Oct. 13th, 2005 01:42 pmIs it just me, or does anyone else notice that the Veronica Mars folks keep intentionally using South Park references? Last week, Butters, and this week, "I'm Super, thanks for asking!" Tee hee. It's not just South Park --there were a bunch of funny references to other shows scattered through the last couple of episodes that definitely made me chuckle.
I hope the ratings keep on going up & up, because this show is seriously good. There are more things in my mind, but I don't wanna be spoilery, so that's all for now.
UPDATE: The Smithers "Eeeexcellent" thing was hilarious, too.

Date: 2005-10-13 06:13 pm (UTC)i got on the VM train pretty late. i downloaded the whole first season some time after it ended. and i was so glad i did, cuz i got to watch them quickly. one or more a day. it's painful to have to wait a week.
and i STILL have to download them, cuz i can't get upn on my tv. and for some unknown reason, they never show up on wednesday nights.
i absolutely love this show's mockery of all things pop-culture. they really have some smart writers.
i SO need a VM icon...

Date: 2005-10-13 06:56 pm (UTC)We didn't have UPN in RI, either. We had to wait for the WB to re-air the episodes.

Date: 2005-10-13 07:00 pm (UTC)i'm always so wary of communities for shows that are still airing, i'm so spoilerphobic its not even funny. i should have found an icon over the summer, but i didn't really like many that i saw.
i guess we technically have upn here...but i don't know what channel it is, and i don't get anything remotely well with my old fashioned antenna except for abc and cbs and a mexican station. and those are pretty iffy.

Date: 2005-10-13 06:59 pm (UTC)That's a sure sign that a 30-something person is writing the episode and forgot that his protagonist is only 18. This happens all the time (classic example: Jane Espenson writing in Dorothy Hamill admiration for Buffy, even though that is SO not Buffy's generation).
The cop-out excuse for this is something like, "well, someone in her parents' generation must have listened to them a lot when she was a kid" but Keith Mars doesn't seem like a Whitesnake fan. Her mom kind of does, though. Hmmmm.
Personally, I saw "EW, gross!" to Whitesnake, but that's just me.

And now I've dated myself further, and yet I'm very glad to know that you know who Whitesnake is, lol.
