OMGWTF Beaver!

chickenSo we went to the Krispy Kreme today and the "Hot Donut" sign was not on. We were about to give up and drive away when I saw a small animal scurrying across the drive-through. It had a flat tail. I have never seen one of these before except maybe in a zoo.
I stopped the car, gobsmacked, so my Bunny could get a look. Sure enough, after a minute or two, it scurried back from the wooded side toward the drive through. That was when we noticed there was a long line of carts covered in green tarps lined up sort of behind the drive through, on the sidewalk/grassy area between the main parking lot and the drive through. All the carts no doubt had donuts on them, because the beaver boldly shoved its nose under one of the green tarps and scurried back toward the woods with a DONUT in its mouth!

Two firsts in one day, seeing a beaver, and seeing one stealing donuts! It probably would've come back for a third one but an employee rounded the corner (wearing headphones, mostly oblivious, certainly did not see the beaver) so it stayed in the woods and we couldn't get a picture.
Also, it was a very FAT beaver as if this had not been its first sugary-glazed meal. !
EDIT: Moral Dilemma: Should I call them up and tell them they have a semi-aquatic donut-stealer living behind their building, putting beaver saliva all over customers' food? Or should I let the atrocity continue? And also, what is a semi-aquatic creature doing living somewhere that, according to Google Maps, is nowhere near any water?

Date: 2006-05-21 07:56 pm (UTC)I do love their donuts, though. The answer is to only eat them fresh off the conveyor belt when the "Hot Donuts" sign is on. Those ones on the carts outside were probably about to be loaded onto trucks going to Stop & Shop and Shaw's.
