Jasmine did that same head-beating thing. She was frenzied, and ran around the room leaping and freaking and beating and scrambling, in a completely claustrophobic panic. It took several re-conings to stop this.
Then she figured out how to a.) calm down and b.) carefully and easily remove the cone, using her paws.
Then, around 4:00 in the morning, a brave Rabbit figured out how to get the cone to stay on (by threading it through the little-used leash harness, which goes around the chest and paws and not just the neck).
The saddest thing is seeing Jasmine get into "cello" position to try to lick herself, and realizing she can't, and forlornly and loudly licking the inside of the cone instead.
I can't believe Zelda bit Zooey's eye! OMG! Why did she do that?
I don't think most cats hold grudges. I have met one or two who do, but most do not.
Zelda bit Zooey's eye on Christmas day about 6 years ago. Zooey had to have surgery and left her blinded. It was a very sad time, but we're all friends again and have been for years:)
Zelda was just overwhelmed by all the noise and fuss on Christmas day and decided to take it out on tiny Zooey.
I'm glad cats don't hold grudges. She'll forget all about it when it's over.
It was my fault for carting them to my sister's house for Christmas Day. They didn't know what was going on, and she had all this loud Christmas music playing, and there was a tree, and the lights.
Zooey's fine. She's blind in one eye, but it doesn't affect her mobility at all. She had a rough recovery, but it was a long time ago. She and Zelda are still friends. And they're both very happy happy dogs!
Poor Jasmine. She sounds miserable. I hope she gets better.
Niobe can hold a pretty impressive grudge, but not even she can manage forever. Last week we had to give her antibiotics (post tooth-extraction surgery) and ear drops. She's still a little suspicious of us, even thought the last dose was Saturday.
Yes, Jasmine is also taking antibiotics. She is very good about the pills, but I think they are having side effects on the other end -- very unpleasant for everyone, especially her.
So the good news is that she came through the surgery just fine! The bad news is that she won't be very happy with you, her cone, or just life in general for a while... poor Jasmine! But it will all get better soon!
I'm glad she's home with you, even if it all seems very traumatic for her (and you both) right now.
Thank you so much! She really seemed to have turned a corner for the better today. The bad things coming out the other end as a result of the antibiotics have changed a bit since the doctor halved her dose of the medicine.
This morning there was projectile vomiting. *sigh* And her spirit was pretty much broken by the horrible sound of the vaccuum cleaner. Poor little kitty.
Last night was the first night Jasmine was officially well enough to spend the night unsupervised with her sister Pearl. You know how cats can sort of fight, even in a friendly way. I was very pleased! Mostly because it meant we could finally SLEEP because we could finally shut them out of the bedroom instead of having to keep Jasmine in the bedroom and Pearl out of it.
No job yet, but GREAT interviews and prospects. I have a couple more on Monday that I am very optimistic about, based on the phone chats I had with the employers and recruiters on Friday.

I think Jasmine will forgive you one day, don't you? I hope so. Zooey forgave me, but she's a dog. I don't know how long cats hold a grudge.
(((hugs))) to you and Bunny for having your baby home with you to recuperate!
