It looks like gay marriage will become a reality (if not using that exact word for it) ... !

Some random news feeds:

As we know, Rhode Island recently said that Rhode Islanders can now go to Massachusetts and get married but not have to actually live there. So that's two giant positive steps, I say.

Imagine the HUGE impact this will have on New Yorkers. No longer will City-dwellers scoff at the "Bridge & Tunnel" crowd. Instead, they will FLOCK to the suburbs to get married. Hmmmmmm.

Bridge & Tunnel will ALWAYS be Bridge & Tunnel

I'm not sure I quite agree with your assessment that we New York gays will "flock to the suburbs". New Jersey is still, in my humble opinion, a pit. On the other hand, I believe NJ has a bit of a tax advantage, and health care isn't as FUBAR as NY, so maybe it would be the place to settle down.

Speaking for myself, it would also depend on whether the lawmakers decide to make it civil unions or Marriage. For some reason the Big M matters to me now. I just hope by the time I meat someone special enough that NY will be a marrying state as well. It's just a matter of time.

Yes, I said that rather tongue-in-cheek. I think the thing that happened to RI as a result of its neighbor getting marriage-y (MA) will also happen to NY. Esp. keeping in mind that things are bubbling under the surface in CT as well. NY is being squeezed from several sides. Hmmm!!! I mean, this isn't the 'domino effect' that CA would have, but it is still rather interesting.

And yes, I agree, the Big M matters very, very much. It felt very much more real to me than it would have otherwise (and I somehow doubt we'd have done it otherwise).

I've got cousins from Jersey, but I think Ken would rather continue to live in sin in Fla. than go back to Jersey to get married. 8 ]

Heh, my comment was mostly made in jest. Though if you live in Boca, who would go to Trenton for a honeymoon?

I don't really know his feelings about the whole issue; our family doesn't Talk About Things.
