BBC on Barrowman/Gill civil partnership
Dec. 29th, 2006 10:48 amThanks to the person on my f-list who orginally posted the link to this BBC article on John and Scott's ceremony. And yes, you are right, that is the single most unflattering picture of John EVER. I mean, compare it to ANY picture of him on his own website. Sheesh, BBC. They did snap a very nice photo of Scott, however. Oh, and I disagree with John over the word "marriage" -- that's what I call it, but if he doesn't want to use that word, so be it. The point is, he and Scott are happy and now they have all the rights, responsibilities, and recognition that straight couples have, bless them.

Also? I'm never getting married again, lol.

Date: 2006-12-29 06:31 pm (UTC)I tend to agree that it is essentially a marriage, but at the same time, I understand his reasoning that marriage is more a religious tradition than a secular one, and at this point in time, the most vocal of religious groups is extremely AGAINST his and Scott's relationship, so why would he want to in any way even remotely associate himself with that?
On the other hand, I feel that I can't really have a knowledgable voice on this matter as my relationship is of the "acceptable" format.
