I wanted to scan in some more photos today, since today is Mother's Day, and this is the first mother's day since her passing last year.

My age in the photo: 9 months

What I like about this photo: my mother looks happy, I look happy, her yellow dress is adorable, and her haircut is horrible, with static electricity to boot. Also, the car seat has that uber-sturdy 1970 look to it. Huge, hard black plastic. I think car seats today look really different.

Also, we both have that patented genetically unavoidable Enormous Forehead.

Awwww...that's an adorable picture! Although that carseat is just scary-looking :)

Thanks! I know what you mean about the carseat, it's just so industrial.

Your mom's kind of got a Gillian Anderson thing going on in this picture!

I know the holiday has to be tough for those of you who have lost your mothers. Looking back like this is a nice tribute.

Gillian Anderson! I never would have thought of that. Now that you've said it, I see it though. Thank you for your kind comments. A lot more people on my f-list than I thought, have lost their mothers. *sigh*

The holidays can be hard.

Lovely picture. You look like you're wearing a Miss America sash.

Baby car seats today are actually huger than that--they are wraparound chairs with much more padding and straps, and, most importantly, seats for babies that size have to face backward.

That's correct. Both legislation and technology have come a long way in the last 37 years.
