Hummer

So today I saw a Hummer parked in one of those spots marked "Compacts Only".

HAHAHAHA.

Let me just say that (unlike slightly smaller monster cars of the same type) it was not just ON the white line. It was WAY over into the next spot.

What the HECK.

The sense of entitlement boggles my mind.

(Oh, and it wasn't one of those "small" Hummers. It was the big granddaddy-one, the "hi, I am insecure and have a Napoloean complex and small equipment" vehicle.

it really blows my mind that people can drive around town with cars like that and think nothing of it. And what's more, I actually think that they think people are staring at them with *envy*. Whereas I think disgust and contempt is foremost on a lot of minds. Mine certainly! Then again, I suppose I should thank them for making the rest of us willing-but-weak/not-as-green-as-we'd-like-to-be people feel like whatever our failings in that department, at least we're not *that* bad.

I feel I should get one of those Happy Bunny type of t-shirts that says, "that look on my face is disdain". I know that some people actually delude themselves into thinking the look means "envy" but that's so far from the truth it's funny.

Mostly I'm talking about men, here, because so many of them are so massively insecure that they either go the sports car route, or the SUV route.

I loved the advert. for the Mini Cooper which they aired in Britain when the auto first came out. It featured a fake game show in which female contestants would lift a window in front of several naked men's crotches, and would then have to guess what kind of car each one drove.

Aiden Gillen, the actor who played notorious lothario and well-endowed gay man Stuart Alan Jones on "Queer As Folk" was of course the Mini Cooper driver.
