There are a lot of jesus nuts around here. It does not endear me to this city, let me tell you.

First there's some guy in a neighboring suite who parks in the lot at our office, whose truck has a Jesus is the Answer! license plate. (Vomit)

Then there's the church down the street which has funky sayings on its outside marquee that say things like "Stop, Drop, & Pray!". Keep in mind, this in not hicksville rural Florida, this is Winter Park, one of the most liberal, hippy, vegetarian, college town suburban environments of Orlando. So of course this is especially surprising.

To cap it all off, on the way to the Mall, you have to drive past The Holy Land Experience because the back of their buildings are right up near the exit ramp to the mall (hmmmmm). Normally this isn't a problem because those are just blank backs of buildings.

However, at this time of year, they put up a huge, HUGE neon sign reading "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESUS!". Once again, gack.

Fortunately, all the people at work are the opposite of this -- they are all Buddhists, atheists, or non-practicing whatevers.

Luckily in UK people who go to church tend to keep it on the down low because religious types are considered a bit freaky by the majority. It's great. :)

We should TOTALLY move there. PLEASE. We're such Anglophiles anyway, it isn't a stretch.

It's rapidly getting to the point where I despise all organized religion except for stuff like paganism and satanism or nature worship. I guess that's hypocritical but it just seems like those religions are the only ones that don't make others miserable through endless proselytizing and such.

I really hate the proselytizing. Apparently some religions are so fervent about it that they have special sects and missions and stuff whose sole goals are to proselytize/convert among a specific different religion. You know, Mormons whose goal is to convert Baptists, Baptists who want to convert Mormons, etc.

I don't get it. Why can't they all just mind their own business(es)?

Ugh. I was accosted by a Jehovah's Witness on the sidewalk in front of our building at 8 a.m. on a weekday when it was snowing and about -11 degrees outside! And then she accosted a teenager who was walking to school!

Shaun found this on Digg.com today: http://www.themishmash.com/2007/12/overkill.html (scroll to number 8)

We've actually seen it in real life, on the drive up to Canada.

62 feet high, NO WAY. That is ludicrous. You probably felt scarred for life after seeing it. So sorry!

I'm sitting here in shellshock from clicking on "The Holy Land Experience." Erk. Are real Christians actually moved by this? I mean, they know that's an ACTOR, right?

Oh well, you have people you can relate to surrounding you at work. That is GOOD.

I really hope they know it is an actor. There's something creepy about the daily "crucifixions".

Right near the Tacoma, WA mall, there's a red neon sign that says "Jesus Love You." I would see it every time I went to get comic books when I lived there. *facepalm*

Oh dear. I suppose the nuts are all over the place. I do feel there are more of them down here than there seem to be up in New England.
