Being the cynic I am, of course I'm chalking this up to 'marketing hogwash'.

Hogwash. They're making more money than they've ever made and have no incentive to not keep on their current course. Yes, their product is running out, but that just means they can charge higher margins. There is no one to pull the flooring from under them.
