Today I gave my formal two weeks of notice at my job, accepted the new job in D.C., and am getting on a plane on Sunday evening to fly to Washington for a third time.

This is the apartment-hunting trip. Any natives or former residents of the city, with any last-minute advice, please chime in.

This is also where I apologize for not commenting on your posts, dear friends. I've just been so busy and stressed with the job interviews and all.

Today was indeed a very auspicious day. I love the people at my new job, am relieved about giving up the old one (and I know those last two weeks will be very difficult), and most of all excited about the new city and all the old friends there whom I miss so much.

Most of all I love my wife, Ms. [livejournal.com profile] bunnyohare for being so brave and hard-working through this whole process.

The amount of excitement, fear, joy, adrenaline, crying, laughing, rollercoaster emotions is just killing me. Once we secure an apartment I will be able to more fully embrace the "joy" part.

Hooray and Congrats and All Good Things!

The only advice I have to give from my househunting in DC is Chin Up :)

I ended up living on both ends of the red line (Bethesda and Silver Spring) and loved both, but I never actually lived in the District.

I'll keep fingers crossed for you!

Congratulations! I did get the sense that the old job was a trial. I don't have anything to offer about DC except sometime you have to go to the "National Museum of Women in the Arts". It's supposed to be cool.

I'm so excited for you getting a new job and for the two of you moving to a new place. Are you planning on living in DC proper or a suburb?

If things get to rough the last two weeks on your job, since you already have a new one, couldn't you just quit, or would that be too unprofessional? :wonders:

Hey, that's fantastic! I'm 2 months into my own "dream job" and loving every minute of it.

And D.C. -- let's hope we get more Democrats in office there, and maybe it'll once again become a land of optimism. (instead of cronyism) PLUS: I've been waiting for an excuse to hop on Amtrak and head down there. Once you get settled in, William and I will have to come down for a visit.

Coolness!
