Interesting articles -- I was wondering about cameras, because I thought that it was going to be such a historic day that I thought I might bring my own, then I thought, no, it's probably not allowed (simply because I'd have to bring it with me into the polling stations and that might be against the rules, due to the possibility that I'd be sneaking photos of other people's ballots!).

And the other article, I have to agree with the statement that the machine seems confusing. I really like our optical machine system, where we mark the paper with black pens and feed it into a machine that reads the marked circles. The ballot is pretty easy to read but I'm still very nervous that I'm going to mark the wrong circle! Totally unfounded fear, but still... I'd be a complete wreck if I had a confusing machine to deal with.

We had the optical black pen and paper things in RI, too. I liked those, and am not sure why they aren't used more places.

Confusing machines are very ageist -- can you imagine the typical confused senior citizen trying to use those?

LOL - Our local polling place is AT the senior citizen retirement center. They have to help run the confusing machines.

But alas, we have the nifty black pen thingy. Never really thought about what it was though.

Interesting about the cameras.
