Angel 5.1 -- Late "Conviction" Thoughts
Oct. 3rd, 2003 12:08 amLate to the party, stupid digital cable, blah blah.
Anyway, I really liked what you had to say about the episode,
keever.
I am especially happy about Harmony, of course, and that Wesley was the one who chose her to be in the group.
Harmony, this icon is for you. Looks like you've actually been studying it.
That Joss is so freely handing out canon slash lines/moments is giddily, heart-warmingly fun. Still hoping Lorne will get a boyfriend, though.
BTW I paused on Lorne's employee examination list, and his possible column headings were:
- OK
- On the bubble
- Evil
- To be fired
- Yikes!
So if an employee is only "Evil" he or she is to be kept on. A "To be fired" or presumably "Yikes!" rating qualifies for dismissal. I wonder if they will pick someone out of the herd to be made into a lead-off example for the rest of the "Yikes!" types.
A very astute use of Lorne's powers.
One thing did confuse me, especially since someone who commented on
keever's mentioned something about the significance of Angel *dropping* the amulet.
Does this imply that if he hadn't dropped it, Spike wouldn't have appeared?
Another interesting thing -- isn't the set for Fred's lab actually the same set they used in 2.13 "Happy Anniversary" for Gene's time freezing experiments?
And why does Fred's new assistant look so familiar?

Date: 2003-10-03 05:19 am (UTC)Thank you for doing that pausing! I was annoyed that it went by so fast. I did catch "on the bubble," though, which I'm totally reading as a reference to the will-they-or-won't-they last-minute renewal drama that they (and we) went through after last season, since that term is often applied to shows in that very position. God, do I ever love Lorne.
I'm not sure about the set, but there's a good reason that Knox looks so familiar -- (trivia alert!) he's the only actor to have appeared on all three of Joss' shows. You probably remember him as Holden Webster, the psychoanalyzing vampire from "Conversations With Dead People."
Something else I thought of while watching this episode that I don't think I mentioned -- what does everyone think happened to Cordelia, exactly? If they have no memory of Connor, who had lots to do with her current coma, what's the story that they all believe?

Date: 2003-10-03 03:48 pm (UTC)I just looked him up -- the actor's name is Jonathan M. Woodward. Keepin' that in mind ... his character looks to have a fairly large role to play.
You should ask te Cordelia question in your own journal (because you have lots of people on your friends list who might take a guess). Or maybe you already have done so, I haven't checked yet.
They all don't remember Connor, but don't they in fact remember Jasmine?
If they do, they might think she had something murky (that they don't remember too well) to do with Cordelia's illness.
Or at least they do remember Cordelia coming back from being a higher being -- maybe they figured the PTB in general (not just Jasmine -- she does imply she was one of the PTB once, right?) had something to do with her illness?
I have not watched Season Three. Did Cordelia stop having the visions at some point during Season Three? Because I don't remember any visions in Season Four (although nothing in Season Four made any sense to me when I saw it, not having had the benefit of seeing Seasons 1, 2, and 3 at the time).

Date: 2003-10-05 01:55 am (UTC)So nothing definitive has been said about the visions going away.
So Angel and Co. have no link to the PTB with her still in a coma?

Date: 2003-10-03 02:14 pm (UTC)Hee. I love that icon, too.
The slash warms the cockles of my heart.
And Lorne desperately needs a boy toy.
