We used to think that our cats just responded to low-voiced singing, as if, during those first six weeks of life before they met us, they had been around some drunken men.

So we would sing, "Oh Give Me a Home, Where the Buffalo Roam ..." and "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" and whatnot, and they would come running and lick our faces and try to stuff their snouts into our open, singing mouths (what we call "snouting").

Today, we sang the yodel from the beginning of "Raising Arizona". This is a very high-pitched song, unlike the other songs.

They went WILD. They jumped on us and licked our faces, as always, but much more quickly after hearing the first notes. They bit (love nibbles) our legs and scalps. They LOVED it.

So I guess they like long notes.

Gosh. And dog people think cats don't do any interesting tricks! Wow.

LOL! No, this is my dog I'm talking about here.

I can tell you about all the funny tricks my cat did in high school, or the hilarious cats that live on my street if you want, though.

There are three or four cats in my neighborhood that stalk my dog. They hide and then pounce on her. One of them will continue to follow us and hide and pounce about 10 times as if we haven't yet figured out what she's doing. She's HILARIOUS.

Another one will run after us like she wants to be petted, but when I go to pet her she meows and runs away.

Then there's the calico cat that sits on the porch and meows CONSTANTLY whenever her owners are outside. She is so funny. She'll just prance around and meow like she is a 3 year old baby. Once I saw her on her hind legs in the window just staring at us and meowing.

Wow, thanks! That group of cats that pounces on your dog is quite clever!
