Arming Campus Police

Administration officials have officially decided to arm the campus police. That's right. Guns.

Not right away, though. First, there are to be a goodly number of training programs, sensitivity training, diversity training, what have you.

Guh!

What ever happened to non-lethals?
Can't they just have stun-guns or something? I know I wouldn't feel safe if the campus police at my school were armed. *shudder*

Those stun-guns are secondary to the regular guns, unfortunately:

"Furthermore, all officers will be subject to intensive scenario based
training on use of force policies and procedures, as well as weapon
use, retention and storage. We will conduct regular drills and
training to prepare officers for a variety of situations. Finally, we
are also examining the supplemental deployment of non-lethal weapons,
such as a taser gun."
