Movies: Stuck On You

Humor was all on target, I laughed a lot. It was a small bit tamer and sweeter compared to the other Farrelly films. E.g. virtually no bodily functions jokes.
I never really liked Matt Damon's acting (e.g. "Rounders", yuck), except for "Dogma" (cuz, Kevin Smith, sarcrilege, hilarity). But I love Greg Kinnear, and he seemed to bring about better acting by Matt Damon. Some actors do raise the bar for everyone a bit (Patrick Stewart is another example).
My review above is short and uninformative, I know. I am a bit pissy, having just read some stupid reviews of the film.
I hate it when reviewers get really basic facts wrong, revealing that they really didn't watch the film at all.
For example, everyone knows that Peter and Bobby are from Rhode Island, but not all their films are set here, of course. The characters in this film hailed from Martha's Vineyard, not from Rhode Island. How several reviewers could make the basic mistake of saying the characters lived in Rhode Island, I have no idea. Makes me so upset. Grrr.
At least the Farrelly brothers themselves don't make weird location mistakes. They are so nice to their local chums, making sure to film at least several scenes inside New England itself, using real New Englanders as extras, etc. I hate it when stuff is blatantly mis-"placed". For example, I once saw some X-Files episodes that purported to take place in Rhode Island but were so obviously not shot here (for clearly budgetary reasons, but it still bugged me for some reason). As Austin Powers said, "the English country side looks nothing like Southern California". Hahahahaha.
Now some nifty bits of trivia.
For you Buffy fans, my
bunnyohare noticed right away that the old woman working in the diner ("Mimmy") was the same actress (Pat Crawford Brown) from "Doublemeat Palace".
Music enthusiasts will see in her IMDB entry that she is the aunt of Christine Lavin.
Another secondary character, the slimy agent "Morty" was played by Seymour Cassel, whom my bunny also recognized -- he was the Linda character's agent Candy Casino in "Tracey Takes On".
I love that my bunny always has such a good visual memory. She always recognizes people from other roles, sometimes really obscure ones. I don't have this talent.

Date: 2004-01-02 03:17 pm (UTC)I actually quite like Matt Damon. It's embarrassing to admit, but there you go.
Glad you liked it. I wanted to see it, too, actually, but will probably wait for the video.
