A better vid than the last
Apr. 7th, 2004 05:53 amMPlayer, VLC, and other media players will play most video formats on most platforms. So I've decided to give up on windows media player and some other formats, and now just have avi, mov, real, mpeg-4. But email me if you have more ideas. Anyway, each vid is better than the last (yeah, the W&H one sucked), but still amateurish and in need of beta-ing.
So if you are a vidder, or just a geek, please watch and beta if you feel like it, the new vid my
bunnyohare and I have attempted: Mini!Puppet!. We both know we'll never reach the awesome quality and creativity of people like
mpoetess but it is still fun.
A note to aspiring Mac OS X vidders: Mencoder kicks ass for exporting to AVI. I wasn't able to get nearly as good a rate of compression with either QuickTime Pro or iMovie (those suckers produced files as big as 35 MB as compared to the 8 MB I got out of Mencoder). Also, and you all know this, Real is pretty terrible (and there isn't even a version of RealProducer for OS X at all, you have to barf your way down to Classic/OS 9). Oh, and OSeX is the kickass-ed friend of all, what a nifty piece of software. Anyway, don't let the Windows people tell you it can't be done, because it can be.
