Thanks to
mmcirvin for alerting me to this: Senate votes to repeal 1913 law that excludes out-of-state gay couples.
Unfortunately, evil Governor Romney will probably be vetoing it.
This is why the Senators wanted to repeal it (makes so much sense):
Sen. Jarrett Barrios, D-Cambridge, a gay lawmaker who sponsored the budget amendment, said the 81-year-old law's origins as a way to block the recognition of interracial marriage and noted that it has not been enforced in Massachusetts for years.
"It was clear there was a large majority offended by the racist nature of the statute, that it has never been enforced in the last 40 years, and that it was inappropriately being used to discriminate against some families in the Commonwealth," Barrios said.
So for it still seems wisest to move to Mass. We'll see. We did our blood work today, so probably have thirty days henceforth in which to decide for sure.
There is that useful GLAD forum next Wednesday.
