People are lobbying to get Reagan put on the $10 bill, so the world must be coming to an end. Curses.

I would have also said something about Grant, but there you could argue that his tenure as Union general was deserving of recognition, even if his tenure as President over one of the more corrupt administrations of the time wasn't.

But dude don't you know that he like totally ended communism and like saved the world by stopping teh cold war?!! JUST FROM THE POWER OF HIS STUPID. *coughs* sorry I have stupid people issues today cause I think if I hear he deserves the 10$ bill cause he "ended the Cold War.." one more time I'm going to start a "Gorbachev and every president since Kennedy on the 10$ bill yo!" campaign cause you know.

Holy crap. And some people also say he ended the Iran hostage thing single-handedly, and that the whole thing was entirely Jimmy Carter's fault.

*Not*

is it just me or did no one really care about him until he died?
...or is that a very callous thing of me to say?

Oh, people did "care" while he was alive. He had legions of stupid devoted followers. Are you kidding me? It was a sad fact.

In like 1987 I had this great anti-Reagan t-shirt that a friend made and sold to all the liberal kids at my high school, this was in my Junior year of high school.

So I wore it to soccer practise, I was JV and all these senior Varsity players said "how can you wear that shirt, how can you disrespect the father of our country?"

And I was all "WTF? George Washington was maybe the 'father of our country'. Ronald Reagan is just some B movie actor who temporarily got hold of the Presidency, and whose policies, esp. in Central America, are totally bad."

And then later I realized the main girl who said this crap to me was this closeted lesbian, and I just did not understand how she of all people could think in such a conservative way.

huh, I guess not living in the US I didn't really notice the Reagan fans until they started camping outside the whitehouse and being on the news *every* night.

Father of the country? I know the British always turn their noses up at America's lack of history but I thought it was a bit older than Reagan at least!
Oh well, your t-shirt sounds cool, what did it say?

I know, I can't believe the idiot said the thing about 'father of our country'. What a moron.

The T-shirt just had a black & white picture of Reagan's head, with a red circle and slash on top, like you see on 'no parking' or 'no smoking' signs.
