Mvoies: Connie and Carla

I loved Connie and Carla.

I had a long review which disappeared on me, so I'll just say that even though the critics did not like it, I did. I know there are cliches and re-treads (Victor/Victoria, etc.), but they are done with such affection. Lots of one's favorite actors are here, A. Mapa, Steven Spinella, Toni Collette. And I love musicals, show tunes, drag shows, so I loved it. Who cares about the critics.

I saw "Connie and Carla" this afternoon. While I enjoyed the musical numbers, the comedy was so flat and predictable that I didn't really care for the rest of the movie. I didn't feel like the writer (Vardalos?) was trying.

Oh well. I'll happily watch dumb action films but for some reason get very picky about my comedy.

I actually laughed a lot, but maybe I was just in the right mood for it. Also, I so enjoy the mere presence of people like Toni Collette on-screen that other stuff doesn't bother me.
