A question for y'all ...

Has it been annoying you that I've been systematically cycling through all my icons, switching every few days to use a different one as my default? I'm doing this in an attempt to actually *use* them all, at least once.

Here are all of them, btw.

Are there any that people hate, or love, or which confuse people?

I like the k.d. lang one -- and I've always wondered where that chicken in the pic with you came from or what the occasion was. But though I've noticed different icons, I hadn't realized that you were changing your default. Seems like a fine idea to me -- I can't imagine why anyone would be bothered by that.

Which k.d. one? This one or the first one I used?

They're both cool icons, but I liked the first one -- with the neck-kerchief and the color photography. Plus the smile. Smiling is nice.

That's from an appearance she made on the Rosie O'Donnell show. Hence the smile. I imagine Rosie being a good friend of hers would make her smile even more than normal. :-)

You've got David smiling now (how can we tell it's David and not Angel? Angel broods, he doesn't smile). :-) Soon everyone will be smiling!

I bet switching flists with [livejournal.com profile] mpoetess was much more exciting than all this, though.

The only reason to bothered by it that I can see is a lack of consistent "identity". Because the icons reflect a somewhat diverse set of interests, I've been afraid that the newer people on my flist may be confused by them -- who is the weirdo chicken, again? ;-) Or something.

The Yellow Chicken was a gift from my (ex) co-worker and his family. His wife and daughter personally know the woman who made the chicken, and with whom they interact at craft fairs or something. They live out on Aquidneck Island, it's a small community, blah blah. Anyway, when they saw the chicken, they just had to get it for me, because it's cute, hand-crocheted, etc. As it is so enormous, nearly human-sized in head and body size, it sometimes "sits in" for me at my computer when I am away from it. She, not it, I should say, does have kind of a "Weekend at Bernie's" problem with holding up her head, but no chicken is perfect.

Oh, also, when this co-worker first met me, the first thing he saw in my cubicle was a large paper-maché chicken (I hang it in my cube).

**giggles all the way through the chicken story**

That's so fun -- it's great that they got it for you. I admire the chicken from afar, though I'm sure that up close it would make me slightly jumpy. Life-sized inanimate things wig me out a teensy bit. But it's all cute in the picture, and I'm picturing it getting to wear seasonal scarves or other holiday ornamental accoutements depending on what time of year it is.

Slightly jumpy? Similar to how one feels going to a wax museum or one of those "natural history" museums with the taxidermy animals? Cuz, wiggins, I totally get that. I guess The Chicken has become normalized somehow.

She did wear my purple scarf the other day. I have a picture on my cellphone, but it looks blue in the picture, because the lighting was bad, crappy cellphone camera, all that. :) How ever did you guess?

Who is Justine? I'm trying to figure out where I've seen that actress recently. I like all your icons. Especially Mommy and Daddy :) Some of them, I've never seen.

Now you've given me a new obsession. I want to look at everyone's icons. Thanks ;)

Well, in addition to playing Justine on "Angel", Laurel Holloman got her start playing a cute baby dyke in The Incredible True Adventures of Two Girls in Love, and now plays a very different lesbian on The L Word.

If you like my Mommy and Daddy, I suppose I should add an icon of my sister, too. :)

Yes, you should definitely use that same URL form to look at everyone's icons (or go to a given person's info page and then click on the default icon that is there).

You know what, I hadn't realised they were the same. The girl from The L Word and Justine I mean. I thought she looked familiar but I didn't see it. And I who keep pointing out Angel/Buffy actors to hubby all the time. Me stupid.

You're not stupid! Her hair is really different (but listen to her voice)!

That's Justine? I forgot how beautiful she was!

I haven't seen those other shows. They must be on premium cable.

I'd love to see sister icon.

Yeah, she was beautiful until Holtz seriously messed her up, mentally.

That's good. :)

So, your Jen icon there, what event was that? She won ... what, an MTV award?
