Yay, we are in our new apartment, along with all our cats, our furniture, and too many boxes.

The movers did a heroic job hoisting some of the furniture up the side of the house and onto the third floor balcony using ropes (the four pieces of furniture that wouldn't fit up the stairs). I know they wouldn't have had to work so hard if they'd bothered to take the drawers out of that enormous bureau, but still, all the more impressive. It was well worth the money.

The cats were a bit frightened of the new place at first, but once they figured out that the living room furniture smelled familiar, they relaxed.

Despite not lifting furniture, we are VERY exhausted and in need of Tylenol from lifting many boxes.

Also, did you all do anything interesting in the last few days that I MUST know? If so, tell me, because I'll just never have the chance to catch up on my f-list. We've had no internet connection for the last four and a half days (the Comcast guy is coming by tomorrow).

The new apartment is just LOVELY, and now all we have to do is unpack, get our new car registration and driver's licenses, and collapse into a heap of tired rabbits and chickens.

Congrats on the move being done. It's always exciting finding your way around a new neighborhood.

This icon is a work in progress. I'm still fiddling with it.

I am so wrapped up in the goings on on my LJ flist that it's become more interesting to me than my RL and my relatives, friends, and acquaintances in my RL.

I want to know what's going on with people on my flist all the time. I know more intimate things about them than I do people I've know for years and see all the time. Hee!!

That's just one of those weird online phenomena which crop up due to the weird anonymity of the medium, a sort of 'false intimacy' that is sometimes not transferable to RL. Or something. I'm no expert.

I try to be careful about what I post. That's why my journal is flocked. I try to say very little about work because I've heard of people getting fired for things they wrote in their blog about their job and their coworkers.

There was a flight attendant who got fired because she posted pictures of herself in her flight attendant uniform posing kind of silly in the cabin of the jet. She wasn't doing anything vulgar, just posing and smiling.
Anyway, Delta or Continental fired her for unprofessionalism.

That's why I don't say things like "my boss smells like dill pickles and eats way too much cheese," in my journal. I have to keep my job so I can feed my doggies. And me!

Except you just said it! ;-) hahaha. "I'm sorry boss, that was a hypothetical, not an actual example!" Tee hee.

Thanks! Why isn't "Knackered" one of the LJ emotions? It's much more emotive than "exhausted".

Yes! Thanks.

Your comment about having cleaned and put contact paper on your kitchen cabinets really struck home -- I've bought numerous cannisters of Clorox wipes and we've put down some contact paper already. Otherwise it's just (in Willow's words) "ookie".

Congratulations! I know you will be very happy there. *hugs*

If you want something to read I posted a story on Friday called The Sound of Silence.

Smooch Bunny for me if it isn't too much trouble. *g*

Thank you, and thanks for the story link -- I'll print it out for the Bunny in lieu of (or in addition to) smooches.
