Today was good because of hearing about the gay marriage decision in Mass.

But it was bad because I learned that on her first day out of the rehab/nursing facility, my Mom took a walk around her neighborhood (no longer a "prisoner"!) and fell, and broke her hip.

I knew this whole going home thing was too good to be true for her.

So that's some time in the hospital now, and rehab, and whatnot. :-(

NOOOO! I am so sorry to hear about that. Sigh. I hope she recovers very soon. Take care, you.

Actually I had a small breakdown today. But my sweet bunny rescued me from the brink. She said that no one can make their parents be more careful, you cannot run their lives. It's not just me, it's everyone's parents. That helped, knowing it wasn't just my own weird mom.

Ugh. Your mom's had such a lousy year. I hope she's feeling better soon.

Yes -- it never seems to end. But her fairly cheerful mood, her not getting too depressed -- that is encouraging.

Sometimes I feel that I was raised by wolves, but often I remember how much love there was too, in spite of her weirdness. So if she starts feeling better, I guess I will, too.

That's definitely a good sign. I hope her cheerfulness rubs off on you, even though I know that sometimes, things like these are harder on the people who have to be there for support.
