Farscape DVD question

Ok. so half my friends list are Farscape fans, and this neat Buffy fan at work told me to watch Farscape, too. So I decided to add it to my Netflix queue. But instead of the usual 6 disks with four episodes on each disk, give or take, I see that they have added ELEVEN disks to my queue, with only two episodes on each disk, and the episodes are apparently out of order! Episodes 1 and 7 on disk one, 2 and 4 on disk two, 3 and 6 on disk three, etc.

Why?

I can't contemplate renting them in this fashion, because oh my god. It's just untenable. Someone please explain.

I don't know anything about Farscape.

Yes, that is a very hot pic, all ... sweaty. That whole scene. With the pull-ups and all. *Drool.*

I dunno. 'The Prisoner' is packaged the same way, which means I've been watching it through netflix over the past five or six months and still haven't seen it all.

Also, some of the disks have a special feature (interviews with people or whatever), and those disks have only ONE episode. Sheesh!

What marketing idiot thought this up?

[identity profile] paulv.livejournal.com 2004-10-18 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I think this is because they dont release full seasons, they release, like, half seasons or some shit. And aside from screwy numbering, they cost a fortune.

Not a farscape fan (never seen it), but that's what some fans told me way back when.

Thanks. How annoying!

Maybe they just screwed them up. And is your Faith icon having an orgasm and or is something fun happening leading up to an orgasm? It's just naughty looking. Hee.

I'd only like to speculate on that icon! ;-)

Well. I like it. It's uhmmmm fascinating??? Yes. That's it. It's fascinating! :p

i can try to explain. but i'm not sure. i believe each season (or at least the first) has a "best of" the season as well as an in order series. season 1 DID come, however, originally as an 11 piece set with two episodes per. i believe they repackaged them to be the usual 4 per that the later seasons come as. so that would explain the 11, but they should be in order, if they're out of order, there might be a best of thrown in.

i know i'm commenting on and old post (i'm trying to get caught up). did you sort this out? did you start watching? i envy anyone who has all of farscape in front of them. it truly is an amazing show. :)

I er ... mumble ... bittorrent ... I have just finished with watching eps 1 - 4. I don't understand WHY those clones were produced in ep 3, except as a plot device. Am trying to live with and embrace the suckage, I mean, the "cheesy factor" of this show. Because the characters are SO interesting, and the actors are gorgeous, and some of the dialog is funny. The set dressing seems early 1960's Star Trek, and I'm having a hard time getting past that. That, and the muppets. But I do see a lot of potential, and will be patient, because it is entertaining. :: mutters 'this isn't supposed to be Firefly' over and over again to self ::

its 2349872960174808999 times better than firefly. and i LIKED firefly (tho not loved). definitely give it a chance. you'll get used to the puppets and i hope find them great. i'm baffled by your set dressing comment tho! it took me some time to get into the show too (but i also started in a weird place) but its soooo worth it.

Dude, I adore Firefly. Don't talk to me about *anything* being better than it! I just wish Fox had aired the episodes in the right order. They make actual *sense* when watched in order.

But you are entitled to feel the opposite.

And there are people I know who like them equally. Chacun a son gout.

I fully intend to give Farscape plenty more chances. Don't worry!

As for the set dressing, I dunno, maybe I more mean the costumes and the annoying muppets, not the actual sets. The way Browder's uniform and t-shirt are so damned Iowa-cornfed-Captain-Kirk (same reason Riley Finn annoys me). And the way it stayed too white and too clean, for several episodes in a row. But if he becomes even a slight bit slashable, as people claim he is, with any even slightly humanoid male, I'll just throw my concerns to the side. Because, dude. :-)

Also, Claudia Black == sexxy sexxy hott. I am one happy lesbian when she appears on-screen. And so is Xan. Wouldn't mind reading a bit of femslash between those two. :: dirty dirty thoughts ::

truly i need to see more firefly. i know you love it. other ljers have raved. i need me some netflix.

costumes get way better, especially for ben and claudia, and yeah don't worry about the iowa-cornfed thing for too long. and slash subtext...well it will be all over the place later. the beginning of the first season was pretty floundery considering how great the show became. :)

and claudia...in my book she is at least tied for being the hottest thing on tame tv ever.

Woot! Yeah, glad to hear it gets better. Most things do. Which is one reason Fox was unfair to Firefly. "Hey, let's cancel it before it even has a chance to mature!" Well, they lost out to Universal in retrospect, because the movie is gonna kick ass.
