The L-Word 2.9: Late, Later, Latent

I've discovered another thing I don't like about Jenny. When she says the word "fucking" as an adjective, as in, "you are so fucking pretentious" or whatever, she just sounds so earnest, like a 50-year-old I once knew who was trying to sound "hip" around the young 'uns by inserting the word "fuck" awkwardly into conversation. It's like, "hi, by the way I use expletives, you can tell I am such a damn liberated person, when really, I'm still this weird fucked up idiot."

In more happy news, Bette + Tina = hottt, finally, again. And it's as if they are no longer trying to make Helen three-dimensional at all. Any attempt has been abandoned in favor of making her unequivocally a control freak. Not that I'm complaining, because it gets Bette and Tina back together, but it isn't the most super writing in the whole world.

Mark's storyline is still disturbing how they're trying to make him relatively sympathetic compared to the other stupid straight guys. What's their ultimate purpose here?

Broody Shane is losing a bit of her veneer, but she's still interesting. And the Jenny/Carmen peeing thing made me go, "ew" -- not sure why.

I did love Dana's awkwardness around sex toys -- it was very cute. No Dana, it's not a bisexual thing, it's a lesbians pleasing themselves and each other any damn way they want to. And yeah, you should have practised putting that thing on a few times before the big moment, so you would seem smooth and together. :-) Adorable and funny. And of course Alice is still the funniest, all, "oh, I'm allergic to that one".

It does seem as if Bette and Tina will be getting back together. Their whole arc of affair/break-up/get back together is much more naturalistic and believable than the Lindsey/Melanie on on QAF, and they are hotter. But Dana and Alice are also my favorite couple. They are sexy and funny and always humping, even casually.
